The City of Troy inhabits over seven miles of Hudson River waterfront. Yet, the majority of this space is dominated by former and current industrial uses or is simply not accessible to the public. This project explores the nature of boundary between river and city fabric of a selected area of South Troy. The project establishes the opportunity to reclaim what is considered to be “brownfield” land, to create a riverfront development that redefines the dialogue between city and river and is welcoming to both the residents of the South Troy community and visitors. The design focuses on generating activity along the river, integrating the urban fabric with usable water the current disjuncture of river and city. The project is thought to serve as a catalyst for future responsible development along the riverfront in Troy and the Capital District at large.
