One of the most primitive drives to create architecture is shelter from the elements; comfort, moderate climate swings, extreme fluctuations and polarities can occur at varying frequencies/rates, at times instantly, other times consistently. Constructing shelter has become an increasingly complex procedure as “normal” climatic conditions evolve to include unpredictable hybrid climates/microclimates. It is not breaking news that society is “silently” progessing forward or perhaps downward spiraling in the face of environmental paradoxes: polluted soils/bodies of water leading to tainted precipitation, tidal shifts associated with deadly flooding, depletion of natural resources combined with consumption/dependency on fossil fuels, and the destruction of natural land formations.
