Can the form and function of a building affect how people interact with each other to enrich the lives and connections of people on a college campus? The goal of this thesis is to investigate and understand how people move and interact with each other and the built environment. I plan to examine movement in everyday life as well as athletics in order to design a building that will enhance the opportunities, even provoke new possibilities for interaction between people who may not normally even meet. The architecture will be manifested in the final project using this knowledge as a basis to inform the design of a multi-use athletic facility on a college campus which incorporates academics, athletics, and social life into one single building.
