The Concept of Views in Simulation Margarita Rovira David L. Spooner Jorge Haddock The concept of views is widely used in the database community as a tool to reorganize and extend a database. It allows different users to look at the same data in different ways without changing the original data or violating its integrity. The same concept can be applied to a simulation model to find new high level interaction patterns among the components of a model without having to define new models and in a way that maintains consistency among the results. This paper makes a comparison of what the concept means in both contexts, describes a system that is under development to support views in simulation, and presents a small example.
