The Concept of Views in Simulation

The Concept of Views in Simulation Margarita Rovira David L. Spooner Jorge Haddock The concept of views is widely used in the database community as a tool to reorganize and extend a database. It allows different users to look at the same data in different ways without changing the original data or violating its integrity. The same concept can be applied to a simulation model to find new high level interaction patterns among the components of a model without having to define new models and in a way that maintains consistency among the results. This paper makes a comparison of what the concept means in both contexts, describes a system that is under development to support views in simulation, and presents a small example. The concept of views is widely used in the database community as a tool to reorganize and extend a database.
