In low rise and single story buildings, limited funding and site restrictions often prevent efficient environmental systems from being included in design. Using the concepts of “dumb” architecture and the techniques of a “polyvalent network system” will enhance efficiency for this neglected building type. This thesis aims to conceive an efficient system from the extraction and analysis of the environmental accomplishments of vertical (high rise) architecture and to identify the factors that could contribute to the ecological success of horizontal (low rise) architecture without the use of costly technologies
